Official Handover

Last Friday saw the official handover of the new Vactron LP air unit at our premises in Mossley.  It is the first one of the new Vactron series to be  to a UK customer and so far looks impressive.  Its first outing will be to a fuel station on the Wirral later this week, then off to Scotland on Monday where its new features and improved performance will be put to the test.

Collection Date Arranged

We will be collecting the new Vactron LP Air 300 SDT next week.  Our crews will undertake a training course on the use of this specific machine so we are ready to head off up to Scotland with it the following Monday.

In the Press

Spotted in this months Geodrilling International magazine - this Geoprobe advert featuring the new 7822DT rig that will be with us in a few weeks. The photo gives a good impression of the size of the unit, often difficult to see from rig only images.

Holiday Snaps

While flicking through our recent holiday snaps, I came across this photo of Dennis with one of the new Geoprobe 7822DT units at the Belgium Geoprobe facility. It certainly is a big machine with lots of new features that Michel and Anselmo were keen to show off.  We were able to finalise details of the rotary guard for our machine that has been custom designed in the US to ensure maximum safety whilst maintaining the usability and manoeuvrability of the rig.

Summer Developments

Now that the holidays are almost over and we are back up to a full compliment of crews, we are looking forward to the next few months of developments .  Our new vacuum excavation van is now with us, easing the pressure on support vehicles that we were experiencing earlier in the year.  This van is dedicated to vacuum excavation trailer transport and will allow our crews to mobilise to site with all the necessary tools, traffic management equipment and materials for an efficient and economical vacuum excavation service.

In preparation for the delivery of our new Geoprobe 7822DT we have imported a curtain sided trailer from the Netherlands.  A custom designed interior racking system is soon to be installed within this trailer to enable us to transport all the necessary tools, materials and ancillary equipment for drilling, probing and direct injection programmes carried out by the Geoprobe.  The new Iveco transport truck is currently under construction and will be with us in September to coincide with rig delivery.

Equipment Update

There have been many developments at Geotron over the last couple of months.  Our new Vactron LP Air is on its way from the US to be put together at the supplier ready for delivery to us late July. To transport this unit we have ordered a new van to tow the Vactron and transport all required signs, barriers and ancillary tools for vacuum excavation.

We have also recently placed an order for a new Geoprobe 7822DT which will be delivered to us in September. To transport this track mounted rig we have ordered a new 7 tonne Iveco chassis on to which we will build a beaver tail rigid box.  The rig will be carried within this custom designed truck and all the necessary tools, equipment and materials will be carried within a curtain-sided trailer which will be towed behind the vehicle.  Further information about this rig, its specifications and capabilities will follow over the next few weeks.

New Page Coming Soon

We will soon be going live with a new website page where we will discuss some of our insights into the world of environmental drilling.  We will aim to challenge perceptions and common deceptions and stimulate debate about some of the drilling ‘cliches’ we have come across over the last decade. You will be welcome to join in the debate and your input would be appreciated.  Views can be published on our site if you wish, anonymously or otherwise.

New Vactron LP Air 300SDT

We have recently placed an order for a new vacuum excavation unit to assist our site crews with service pit excavation ahead of rig drilling and other construction/civil engineering related applications.  Further information about our ‘safe excavation’ service and details of the machine itself can be viewed on the following new website pages:

Vacuum Excavation  and  Vactron LP Air 300SDT.

Serbian Adventure

Tomasz, Piotr, the Geotool GTR790 and 62 packs of liners are on their way to Serbia this week.  They will be working alongside our Geotron International colleagues on a copper mine installing 62 shallow boreholes by windowless sampling.  Other parts of the work will include the installation of monitoring wells to 100m depth.

Back to School

The Comacchio GEO205 rig and its transport trailer recently paid a visit to the local primary school to bring alive their topic on ’vehicles’.  Maybe a little more unusual than the tractor, waggon and fire engine that were also brought in, but interesting for the kids just the same.

New Hires

We would like to welcome two new hires to the company.  Brett Gallagher joined us in January this year with 4 years experience as an assistant and lead driller with Geotechnical Engineering and Richard Mattimore joined at the end of last month with 4 years with Glover GB/GRL. Both have extensive experience within the geo-environmental drilling industry and we look forward to working with them during our planned developments this year and beyond.
