We believe that the installation of high quality boreholes and
monitoring wells is crucial to the collection of accurate and
representative soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis,
the measurement and evaluation of geological and hydrogeological
parameters and to the safeguarding of the sampling points for future
monitoring.
To achieve the installation of high quality boreholes and monitoing
wells, we:
...Use appropriate drilling techniques to prevent cross
contamination between potentially contaminated and/or water bearing
strata;
...Use appropriate drilling techniques to ensure that a
monitoring well can be installed within a sufficiently large borehole
annulus, throughout the entire borehole depth, to allow installation of
a sufficiently wide gravel filter pack and bentonite seal surrounding
the complete circumference of the well pipe;
...Use, as standard, well material (pipe, gravel and
bentonite) certified for use in environmental investigations and
remediation programmes;
...Use, as standard, sufficiently small borehole screen
with appropriate filter gravel to allow installation of an effective
groundwater filter, minimising the potential for silting up of the well
following installation. Alternative slot and filter gravel size can, of
course, be used on request if required for a specific intrusive
programme design;
...Always offer a well development service to clean out
the centre of a well following installation and to facilitate internal
sorting of the filter gravel pack to produce an efficient filter for
subsequent groundwater monitoring and sampling activities.
In addition to the performance of a high quality drilling and well
installation service, we also place high importance on the following

objectives so that we can ensure that those objectives are met;
To perform all our work in a professional and friendly
manner, to minimise distruption to operational facilities during an
investigation and to comply with all client and facility requirements;
To ensure, that our clients are able to contact a
member of the Geotron UK management team at all times for: preparation
of cost estimates; discussion and organisation of project logistics;
provision of technical information about our rigs and services;
provision of health & safety, insurance and method statement
information for pre-project documentation and to deal with general
enquiries.
